Things are no longer at ease with the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Victor Antai, is in panic mode since Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, ordered the arrest of his allies, Joseph Utin and Ubong Ekpe, who she alleged stole her intellectual property.
Ini Edo who serves Governor Uom Emmanuel as aide on Tourism had, in 2016, planned a Culture Festival tagged IbomFest which wasn’t approved by government even after the actress had spent millions in planning it. Victor Antai was fingered as the mastermind of the cancellation.
During the recently concluded 30th anniversary celebration of Akwa Ibom State, the Orange September branding went viral.
While the embattled Commissioner and his few aides took glory for the idea, Ini Edo has claimed that it was actually hers’.
In a petition sent to Police IG, Ibrahim Idris, she demanded an immediate arrest of the consultants.
The Orbit can authoritatively report that Ini Edo will proceed to court to seek redress on the issue. The Akwa Ibom Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Victor Antai shall be joined in the suit.
A source close to Ini Edo also divulged that the actress is considering resigning as aide on Tourism to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Our source said Ini Edo has severally accused Antai of sabotaging her portfolio as aide on Culture and Tourism.
Meanwhile, a certain Patience Utin, who is the wife of one of the arrested consultants, Joseph Utin, has confirmed that the Orange September was indeed Ini Edo’s brainchild.
In a social media post which has gone viral, she however accused Miss Edo of owing her husband after “collecting millions of Naira from the sponsors (of the botched Ibom Fest) and disappeared without paying her consultants, Joseph Utin and Ubong Ekpe or accounting for the said money.”
Governor Udom Emmanuel, we learnt, is very enraged with Antai.
